The Sava bridge is an old bridge built by German soldiers during the occupation.
The Sava Bridge is said to be the only bridge in Europe that the Nazis did not destroy as they retreated, but it will likely be dismantled to make way for a modern bridge built by the Serbs.
Sava Bridge / Miladin Zarić Bridge
Miladin Zarić, a teacher, is said to have saved the Sava Bridge from destruction by the Germans retreating against the Allied forces in 1944. Living nearby, he is said to have rushed at the risk of his life to cut the slow fuse cords before the flames reached the explosive charges.
